The Loan Monitor tool provides insight into what occurs behind the scenes in Encompass®. It tracks every field change and form load in real time, allowing users to clearly see the chain reaction of events as they occur. Whether diagnosing workflow issues or simply observing field behavior, Loan Monitor offers a clear, visual breakdown of loan activity.

Activation

To turn this tool on:

1. Log in to Encompass® as a Super Admin.

2. Open LTK PowerTools™ from the Encompass® menu and click Settings.

3. Go to the PowerTools™ Free tab.

4. Turn on the Loan Monitor by clicking On.

Note: After activation of the Tool, be sure to wait for the prompt stating that the download is complete prior to continuing.

5. Ensure a license number populated and restart Encompass®.

 

To disable this tool:

1. Log in to Encompass® as a Super Admin.

2. Open LTK PowerTools™ from the Encompass® menu and click Settings.

3. Go to the PowerTools™ Free tab.

4. Turn off the Loan Monitor by clicking Off.

5. Restart Encompass®.

 

Getting Started

  1. Set Up the Log File
    • Create a folder named EncompassLog on the C:/ drive of the user’s computer.
    • Inside that folder, create a text file named: LoanMonitor


Important: The spelling must be exact for the tool to function correctly.

  1. Disabling the Popup
    If a user does not want to see the Loan Monitor popup, simply rename or delete the LoanMonitor.txt file. For example:
    • LoanMonitor1
    • LoanMonitor-backup[date]
  2. Slow Load Times?
    If the log file becomes too large, performance may slow down. Delete or recreate LoanMonitor.txt to improve speed.

 

How to Use It

  1. Open a Loan
    Once setup is complete, opening any loan file will automatically trigger the Loan Monitor window to appear.
  2. View Real-Time Activity
    Loan Monitor displays field changes instantly.   Users may:
    • Minimize the window and continue working, or
    • Keep it open beside Encompass® to observe real-time updates.


  1. Color Coding
    • Yellow: Fields changed manually
    • White: Fields changed automatically
    • Light Blue font: Form load
    • Red font: Form unload
    • Navy Blue Font: Tool Form
    • Light Red highlight: Clicked row, can be helpful for bookmarking changes
    • Light Green highlight: field is on both old 1003 URLA 2009 and new 2020 forms
    • Light Blue highlight: field is only on the old 1003 URLA 2009
    • Dark Blue Highlight: field is only on the new 2020 URLA.
     4. U Column

             This is used to identify fields related to URLA 2020.

             B – field is in both 2009 and 2020

             O – field is in the old 2009 but not in 2020

             N – field is in the new 2020 but not in 2009

             u – Field not on 2009 or 2020 but shows in ICE URLA XLS

  1. Use the Summary Links
    Summary links above the field list allow users to quickly jump to specific categories of changes.



This list will show all the fields that have had their value changed any number of times.  Check the See all fields that changed even if Initial = Current Value box in the bottom-left corner to view fields that had values changed but returned to their original values.
